Are you a talented, undiscovered filmmaker? Do you want your work screened before film and television executives, see your name celebrated in Variety and show the entire entertainment world your capabilities? Perhaps you dream of a new digital camera to use for your next film? This filmmaking competition is for you.

Make us laugh with the creative use of an overheard conversation. Or, haunt us with the emotions of a long atmospheric sound clip translated into a unique visual masterpiece. Travel through our interactive Sound Map and source sounds and inspiration for your production. Anything is possible.

These are the only rules:

1. Choose one of the following themes and interpret it any way you like - in any genre:

 

The Street

A State of Mind

America

The Unexpected

2. Use and credit THREE or more sounds from the Sound Map.

3. Keep your film to a maximum length of 3 minutes + 1 minute of credits, with a file size of 2GB or less.

We invite independent filmmakers everywhere to listen out for inspiration and compete with short films sparked by the sounds around us.

Prizes

Winners will each take home a new Panasonic HDC-HS300 120GB Full HD Camcorder and see their achievements celebrated in a full-page ad in Variety.

The Process

All entered films are screened on www.thesmalls.com. The public vote produces a shortlist of 6 films, from which a distinguished panel of judges from the film, television and media industry selects the winners.
