It rolls over automatically, charging the card that you enter for payment when you first sign up. A few weeks prior to this we will send you a reminder email advising you that your account status is about to be renewed.
As a Pro member you can upload as many films as you like, there is no limit.
As a Pro member you can opt to remove all advertising from your profile and film pages. You can also choose from a range of background templates – or upload your own graphics and images to your background.
When you change your membership from Pro to Basic, your most popular films (up to 1GB in total capacity) will be saved and show on your Basic profile. The rest of your profile information and films will be stored for 30 days on The Smalls server. We do this because we want to give you the option to change your mind. When those 30 days have passed your films and profile information will be removed from our servers.
This feature is coming soon. Stay tuned.
The wallet is an application that we have created so that you are able to easily receive any licensing fees that your films accumulate – if you choose to put your film forward for licensing (this is optional, and you make this choice when you upload your film).
We will notify you via email.
We make all licensing payments via PayPal. If you wish to collect the money earned in your wallet, please ensure you have added your correct PayPal email address linked up to your wallet. Then go to your wallet and click “Empty wallet”.
Upgrade from Basic to Pro
To upgrade to Pro membership, log into your account and click the “Upgrade” button on any page. You will be taken through a quick process where you will need to submit payment of £40 via any major credit card.
You will not lose any information when you upgrade. What you will notice is that your pages look a little bit different, offering you more options and access to more features and tools. If you have any worries or concerns about your new membership, your profile or your films we welcome you to send us a message at support@thesmalls.com.

We would be sad to see you go and would love an opportunity to see if we can do anything to make you happy at The Smalls again. Sure. In your Profile, go to Personal Info and you will see Facebook Connect. Click to sync your account.
Films
When you are logged into your account, go to www.thesmalls.com/upload-film. From there simply follow the instructions. Please make sure that you are only uploading films that you have created and/or own all the rights to the materials and music used. If uploading your film takes a little time, please be patient. It can be because many people are uploading at the same time. Not a member yet? Go to www.thesmalls.com/user/sign-up and get started with uploading and showcasing your films.
When you have seen the progress bar for your upload complete, your film starts processing to appear on your profile. While this happens you can go ahead and add tags, description or give those who helped you make the film credit.
This could have something to do with your internet connection. If your connection dips or times out, your upload will be interrupted. Other tips include to make sure you don’t have too many other applications open. If your internet connection is fine and you are not engaging in too many other activities at the same time, take a look at your film file and make sure it is in one of these formats: mp4, ogg, avi, mov, wmv, flv, ogv, or webm. Still having trouble? Send us a message at support@thesmalls.com and include as much information as possible about your film (file size, format, browser you are using etc).
Make sure that your internet connection is working. If you are trying to upload a film on a weaker internet connection, close down all other windows and activity. And give it a little time. If it still doesn’t work, send a message to support@thesmalls.com.
No, you only need your internet browser and connection to be working.
There could be a number of reasons. Check that your internet connection is working, and that your film is in one of these formats: mp4, ogg, avi, mov, wmv, flv, ogv, or webm. Also make sure you are not running any programs or have busy browser open that may keep your upload from running as fast as it can. Please note that after your film has uploaded it can take a little while for our systems to do what they need in order for your film to show up on your Profile. If your film has not appeared on your profile within 1-2 hours after you have uploaded it, send us a message at support@thesmalls.com.
These film file formats work well on The Smalls: mp4, ogg, avi, mov, wmv, flv, ogv, or webm.
Yes and no. We encourage you to share your work in any genre, but please make sure that it does not violate our Prohibited Content Policy or our Terms of Use
Yes you can if you created them. Like with all short form content that you add to the site, make sure you have ownership and rights of use.
We welcome you to upload music videos. Make sure you own the rights to all materials, including the music, used in your video.
In your profile, navigate to "Manage My Films" and click to delete. Please note that once your film has been deleted it is removed from our servers. If you wish to share it on The Smalls, you need to upload it again.
In your Profile, go to "Manage My Films". Next to your film you will see 'Edit Film" where you can edit you film description, title, thumbnail image, awards and other information. Make sure to save your changes.

Absolutely. Just use the arrow sign on the player and your film will take up the whole window of your display. To exit full screen mode, just hit “esc” on your keyboard.
On your film page, in the lower right corner of the player, press “Share”. You will now be asked to enter the email address of the person you are sending your film to and even a brief message. After you have entered the information you want, just press “Send”.
On your film page, in the lower right corner of the player, press “Share”. You will there see the embed code for your film, which you can copy and paste in elsewhere.
We do compress your film, to make sure that our servers have room for all our members’ films.

Unfortunately we do not have an editing function today. But if you make changes to your film, do upload it again – you can always replace your film with newer versions. Just remember to remove your older version to avoid confusion when people search for your film.
Poor film playback can depend on a number of factors. Firstly, make sure that you have a good internet connection. Then make sure that you don’t have several other programs running, or too many other tabs open in your browser. Finally, if your film still plays back slowly or stutters, try another browser. Still having problems? Contact support@thesmalls.com.
You can upload film files that are up to 0.5GB (500MB) in size.
Rights, Permissions and Licenses
You do.
When we created The Smalls we did so to help filmmakers get exposure and find new audiences for their films. Throughout the years it has been our experience that most people want to be generous with their work and want to share the power to distribute, change and reuse it with others to help them showcase their film and their talent to the rest of the world. To accommodate this we have created some pretty standard Terms and Conditions that sum up what we are all about and how we operate. Check them out and if you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to contact us at info@thesmalls.com at any time.
When you upload your film to The Smalls you also make it available for licensing to broadcasters, other media owners and brands that fall in love with your work and want to show it to their audiences. Great, right? Now, apart from getting recognition and appreciation for your film through having it licensed, you also earn money from a licensing deal for your film. The exact rates vary depending on who licenses your film. The Smalls will always contact you before your film is licensed, so that you can approve the terms of such a deal. So you can just sit back and relax for now, until the good stuff starts happening.
That’s fine. When you upload your film you make that choice.
Please start by contacting the filmmaker for his/her permission. Then it is up to him/her to decide if you can go ahead or not.
Reporting abuse or offensive content
Please forward the message you think is spam to report@thesmalls.com.
We have a Prohibited Content Policy that we believe helps keep The Smalls a nice, safe and friendly place. If you think a film is offensive or violates our Prohibited Content Policy, then please send an email to report@thesmalls.com.
Please send an email to report@thesmalls.com and include as much information as possible.
Patron Membership
Patron memberships are for organizations and brands that would like to become part of The Smalls community. A Patron membership allows a brand to reach out to filmmakers, artists and content creators who can help them tell their stories through short films or that can help them generate ideas for a new strategy or campaign. But a Patron membership is also for commissioners and distributors of film, who want to be part of the Smalls network to find new talent and projects. Soon The Smalls Pitch Room will open, where Patrons can post briefs and opportunities. Brands interested in becoming a Patron are welcome to contact us at patron@thesmalls.com.
