Not to sure what to enter it into, this is one of my first docs. Any recommendations?
First I would look up documentary completion funds, to see if you can polish this version into a shorter and tighter piece - maybe work a bit more on your soundtrack. Check out some of the music here on The Smalls - there may be something super for you there. Google for your local documentary film institutes and see what resources and connections they have for you. Then I think you should start by exploring festivals such as Big Sky, Silverdocs (AFI/Discovery Channel) or Hot Springs - and then dive in deeper for smaller, more targeted documentary festivals too. You really have something great going on here - just keep working on it and most of all, don't be afraid to get it out there.
