I was trying to write something about the nature of the sea and ended up by giving it a personality. Its sinister aspect came across OK on paper but when Lewis read it, it really went into a different league. I think we used the first take. I reigned in the visuals almost to abstraction to concentrate on the music and voice. The movement of the shoals of fish really helps give the whole thing a sense of power and movement. A big idea with small scale execution is an interesting direction.

Inspiration Statement

I've always liked the Poems on the Underground series. They are chosen really well for their simplicity, which is what you need when you're in a crowded train. It's a great escape. When you're on the move with sound and vision, a poem gets you deeper. For 45 seconds in this case you really are totally immersed.
