EMBRYOMIX

Purpose.

Humanity is not in control.

The future is not politically or morally correct.

Humanity cannot prevent the inevitable. It can only create uncertainty.

Embryomix is a reflection of humanity’s fear of progress and it’s desire to reach it’s summits.

Fear and desire. Denial and acceptance. Anger and apathy. Blindness and evasion. Dichotomy and paradox. The history and future of civilizations is the simultaneous veiling and unveiling of reality. Escalation of risk, desperation for security. The science that discovered that the observer is the participant created the technology to change the participant into the observer.

Medieval modernity. Pioneers and pawns.

New development appears controlled but is a merely the conception of a random process.

Media. Audial:

Identifiable. Acceptable. Minimalist.

Dance rythms deliberately accessible demanding physical participation from it’s audience.

Loud and enveloping, participants are cocooned, uplifted and exhilarated.

Media. Visual:

Random. Disturbing. Provocative.

Displayed on four screens. The timing of the visual pulse fails minutely to sync to the audial pulse creating a circular slip.Multiple views pulse at different beats forming a time-spiral creating visual uncertainty. Visual pulses sync with the audial but seemingly at random. The audial pulse feels comfortable while the visual encourage uncertainty.

The visual subject begins familiar travels through the abstract and comes full circle but to an uncertain, unattainable and distant almost alternative resolution.

We think we have the power to alter or affect reality but really only change our perception of it.

Phillip K Dick: ‘Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away‘
