Matt, Jamie and Wesley this is everything a small should be for me. It has a simple provocative idea and it is beautifully executed. I really like the counter positioning of romance and toilet filth, and both the music and the changing pace of the edit captivate the viewer in a very gentle way, despite the frank nature of the photography. If I was to pick up on one thing, it
would be the inclusion of the graffiti 'make the world a better place, kill a muslim'. While I can understand that this is a statement opposed to love and is in keeping with the idea, it stands out for me, as everything else seems to be on a sexual level. Perhaps this was deliberate to provoke yet further reaction, but it just felt a little out of place with the simplicity of the idea for me. Really enjoyed this small though.
Agree with stopframe, really like this film but the muslim quote felt a bit harsh to me too, despite the juxtaposing. but overall v good. Like 'The Divorce' too.
mmm average. its more a slideshow than a short film
quite simply: genius! very clever and simple way of preseting a provocative idea (not one i agree with, but nevertheless). one of the best shorts ive seen for a while
I tend to agree with hazeleyg and squadronfilms...i
