An extraordinary portrait of an extraordinary man, this film is utterly beautiful and absorbing. There is a strange poetry to the way Ralph talks about his life and even only one, brief intimate look is enough to carry this fine documentary through - a fascinating film that deserves to be seen over and over.
I don't think anyone who watches this doesn't want to meet Ralph. Or doesn't wish they had "a Ralph" in their lives. His story is really a balance of emotions and brains, beautifully told. The style takes you to a very odd, chilly place - and yet the substance of the experience overwhelms and fills the heart with warmth. This is the perfect film about the inevitable imperfections of life. Thank you for making it, and for sharing with the rest of us.
An inspirational man's story told in a beautiful way.
Ralph
is an incredible man and on one level you could think that it is his
personality that makes this short film shine. However take a step back
and you realise that it is as much the brilliance of film making that
subtly brings his story to life in an intimate and moving way. His is an
amazing life affirming story and I admire and thank the filmmakers for
recognising it, telling it and sharing it. Great film making is about
moving people with great stories and this is an incredible example.
Even
with Ralph's amazing personality this could have been a very ordinary
film but it was the direction and way we were taken through different
emotions that delivered real pathos. Mirroring his life, one minute I
was laughing with Ralph and the next I felt sad and sorry for him. I
really liked the hand held approach and detail like photographs just
being help up to camera. It made it feel even more intimate and like
Ralph was really talking to me personally. Moving and Amazing!
Congratulations and I hope you can share the admiration with Ralph.
very moving and inspirational, great film making allowing Ralph to touch our hearts on so many levels
