good sketch, but not a short film, and good performances, but was this really the best comedy entered?...but then maybe thats why the yanks are making all the best comedy and the Brits just keep churning out the same witty public school boy fodder waiting for one to hit the target.
not sure i agree with you 100% there giantowl - while it may not have a traditional 'film school structure' it certainly is great comedy!
Film school structure? No just film as opposed to a sketch ie: its a short scene in a park, as opposed to something with a beginning a middle and an end. Its a good sketch and the end joke is quite funny...Its a bit like a scene mates would imagine in a pub after chatting about life of Brian. Its not a piece that stands alone, ie a film short or long, there is a difference. Good luck to the lads, but in comparison to some of the other funny short films entered, this is not really in the same league. Comedy is subjective like all art. What the smalls need to do is pick judges that have made very good comedy...as opposed to just being in the industry.
we entered a short into this year's competition which we were very happy with, but i thought this winning sketch was great and don't begrudge these guys at all! great simple idea and funny dialogue. congrats on winning, fellas. i think ours is gonna be online here soon too, but in the meantime you can check it out on youtube here...

You have to look at the caliber of the judges. I guess….. that diversity
is lacking in this area.
