Every year, The Smalls Short Film Fest tries to bring you something new. This time, for our 6th annual event, we really went above and beyond to offer you experiences that can really help you in your careers and with your independent film projects. We reached out to our friends in the film industry and got a terrific response. Together with our sponsors and affiliates we are really excited to bring you everything from workshops to a keynote speech by a Hollywood legend.
Below are all of the currently scheduled events for The Smalls Short Film Fest 2011.
All events take place at our venue: The Gallery Soho, 123 Charing Cross Road, London, WC2H 0EW, UK.

15 SEPTEMBER
The Smalls Short Film Fest 2011 shortlist is announced on or before 15 September
21 SEPTEMBER
10:00AM The Smalls Short Film Fest 2011 OPENS! You are all welcome to stop by and watch the shortlisted films that are screening on iPods throughout our showcase days (21-22 September, 10AM – 5PM).
7:00PM The Smalls Short Stories Panel – In this creatively packed show and tell session, The Smalls brings together a panel of successful and award winning short filmmakers and asks them each to share their inspiration and behind the scenes filmmaking experiences.
22 SEPTEMBER
10:00AM The Smalls Short Film Fest 2011 starts day two of screening the shortlisted films from this year’s entries. You are welcome to stop by.
1:00PM - 2.30PM and 3:00PM - 4.30PM (two sessions, book one) London Film Academy presents: Acting for Directors Workshop – A perennial complaint from both directors and actors is that both speak a different language. The director knows what he/she wants but finds it difficult to communicate, leaving actors floundering through take after take. Hosted by The London Film Academy, The Smalls presents this director’s workshop with actor and MA Acting Training Coach Simon McLinden (Emmerdale, Exorcist Prequel Dominion, Paradox) who will offer advice on how to speak to actors in their own language and get the most from their performance.
7:30 PM The Smalls Short Film Fest 2011 awards ceremony starts, featuring a keynote speech by John Ward, Director of Photography whose credits include Full Metal Jacket, From Hell and Highlander. And, of course, this year’s winners are announced and prizes presented!
