You've probably heard about open source software etc - but have you heard about stories that are open source? Available for filmmakers and dramatists to use? If not, check it out - especially if you need an idea for your next short film. For those of you who have heard about the open source theory - how many of you have actually tried it? Yeah, yeah, I know - we're all geniuses who do not need anybody else's ideas or thoughts to develop. And anyone who comes close to creating art from your art, should burn in...? Didn't think so. Didn't think you were against adaptations either. So, check out this site: http://www.jonathanlethem.com/promiscuous_materials.html
You, like me, like to live in a free world where we believe others can benefit from interpreting and reusing our ideas. After all, that's what filmmaking is about - isn't it? So hit this site up and feel free to tell me if you know of other open source sites we should list here on The Smalls - you can email me, or post your response here on this page. SHARE THEM with us. Or, if you have a story you'd like to open up - also let me know, I'll help you get the word out.
So, go ahead - I dare you to try it out. All you do is agree to a few terms, and then pay a buck - worth a try, isn't it? Let me know how it works, or if it doesn't (I won't refund your dollar, though I may shoot you a gator kiss for daring to try something new).
Later.
