WANT AN IDEA TO ADAPT FOR A SHORT FILM?

Wed, 16 Apr 2008 21:09

You've probably heard about open source software etc - but have you
heard about stories that are open source? Available for filmmakers and dramatists to use? If not, check it out - especially if you need an idea for your next short film. For those of you who have heard about the open source theory - how many of you have actually tried it? Yeah, yeah, I know - we're all geniuses who do not need anybody else's ideas or thoughts to develop. And anyone who comes close to creating art from your art, should burn in...? Didn't think so. Didn't think you were against adaptations either. So, I've got a site for your to check out...

SCREENPLAYS, SCREENPLAYS, SCREENPLAYS

Wed, 09 Apr 2008 14:57

All of us have one or several favorite films. Films that have caused us
to shoot that first short, or at least play around with a camera and
ponder ‘what might be if I could just take this idea and...’. You have
probably read all there is on your film, about the director and the
actors… even Googled their personal lives, admit it. But how many of
you have read the screenplay of your favorite film? This is how you get
your hands on it in minutes.

THE MARCH CAN WRAP UP

Wed, 26 Mar 2008 13:51

Spring has arrived, and this month’s THE CAN was a special one – just under the wire, we were able to be the first to announce the theme for this year’s Comedy Smalls Competition: WORK. Expect some great submissions from this side of the Atlantic – we know the Brits dominated in 2007, but this month’s screening in NYC was more like a political rally.

TIMING IS NOTHING

Tue, 18 Mar 2008 17:10

Did you know that in The Shining, the door that Jack breaks down at the end of the movie was actually a real door? Kubrick had originally used a fake door, but Jack Nicholson, who supposedly had volunteered as a fire marshal earlier in his life, tore it down too quickly. It happened too fast, ruining the timing of the scene.
