DARKLIGHT – DEADLINE TO SUBMIT JULY 3RD, 2009

Darklight is a festival for filmmakers, animators and artists whose work explores the convergence of art, film and technology. Held in Ireland October 8-11, 2009, the festival will have screenings, workshops, symposiums and more. Darklight is currently taking entries – the deadline to submit is July 3rd, 2009 @ 5PM.

NORWICH FILM FESTIVAL - CALL FOR ENTRIES

The first annual Norwich Film Festival is now open for submissions. Filmmakers with short and features are welcome to apply. Whomever takes home the Best in Festival prize will also win £5000. Other prizes include: Best Short - £1000, Best Feature - £1000, Best Documentary - £1000, Best Animation - £1000 and Best Student Film - £1000. The early bird deadline is June 26th, regular deadline is July 31st and late deadline is August 7th.

If you are a graduate filmmaker with an artful short film that handles socially conscious themes - check out the Reach Film Fellowship (RFF). The only prerequisite is that you graduated in 08 or 09 and that you live in the NYC area. If so, you could win a $5,000 grant, sponsorships and the opportunity to be mentored by such great artists as Albert Maysles, Rachel Grady, So Yong Kim and Jeremy Kipp Walker.

I am beginning to think that everywhere I go, everything is HUGE, BIG, THE BEST, RECORD SHATTERING this movie made more money per screen than this other one! The first round of films by members of The Smalls community have successfully screened on the US mobile network Sprint. In March, following an agreement between The Smalls and mobile media service provider GoTV, five filmmakers saw their work become available to US mobile users. More than 5,000 people viewed the March films Dunny, The Chase, Gone Fishing, Nobody Beats the Drum, and Tinkernicks.
